Listening in the SDS: how many times does the audio play?

  • The audio cannot be paused: it starts and runs through. The instructions are read twice in the recording, then the text follows.
  • At B2 there is also the matching format (Zuordnung): several people give their opinions and you attribute statements to the right person.
  • The most common complaint in reports: basic headphones and room noise (interview call-outs, neighbours) — with a single B2 pass, every distraction counts double.

The consequence for training

If you’re aiming for B2, train under exam conditions from the start: one pass, no pause, no replay. Listening twice in practice builds a habit the test won’t allow.
