Yes. The SDS is on the list of language certificates recognised by the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM), and therefore counts for naturalisation and for residence and settlement permits. The provider has also committed to obtaining the ALTE quality mark by the end of 2029.
Doubts keep circulating in forums (“is it still accepted?”) — what counts is solely the current SEM list (link below). Since cantons and municipalities may set their own level requirements, check your canton’s rules before registering: which level is required, not whether the test counts.
Good to know
- The certificate states the level per skill (reading, listening, writing, speaking) and is sent within 2 working days.
- The test is modular: full test (CHF 239.–) or written-only / oral-only (CHF 150.– each). Two partial results can be merged into one certificate on request.
- Retakes are unlimited, always at full price.
